A veteran newly assigned to the Zamaii frontier begins a chapter of military service very different from what came before. There is no glory waiting for him here—only long patrols, convoy escorts, and the daily duties that must be carried out without fail.
During a routine patrol, he comes across a weathered statue of the goddess of victory. Scarred by years of war and pollution, the statue has long since lost its former splendor. Yet one message remains visible across its base:
“STILL ALIVE?”
He stops before the statue for a moment.
Perhaps it was nothing more than a careless joke left by someone passing through. Perhaps it was meant for someone else. But to a veteran beginning another chapter of his military life, the words carry a different weight.
It is only after this that he meets a young new recruit in Zamaii—Damien.
