During Summer Game Fest's PC showcase, developer Perfect Garbage introduced Grave Seasons, an upcoming farming sim with a chilling twist. While it echoes the cozy charm of Stardew Valley, the game adds elements of true crime and horror. Set in the quiet town of Ashenridge, Grave Seasons follows a player who has recently escaped prison and now tends a new farm in a place where something sinister is lurking beneath the surface.
The reveal was one of many during a packed June of gaming announcements, including PlayStation’s State of Play, the Xbox Showcase, and Summer Game Fest 2025. Alongside major news like the Xbox ROG handheld and trailers for Dying Light: The Beast, Resident Evil Requiem, and the Mortal Shell sequel, Grave Seasons stood out thanks to its unusual blend of narrative farming gameplay and murder mystery. Published by Blumhouse Games, the title has already piqued the interest of over 100,000 Steam users despite no confirmed release date.
In Grave Seasons, players engage in typical farming sim activities like mining, fishing, and crop-growing, while also working to unmask a serial killer terrorizing Ashenridge. Building relationships with townsfolk becomes crucial—not only to solve the mystery but potentially to romance the killer. The game's eerie trailer, filled with unsettling music and dimly lit crime scenes, captivated horror fans. Blumhouse also revealed other horror titles at the event, including In Sleep Awake and Crisol: Theater of Idols, as well as a film adaptation of Phasmophobia.
