NIS America has officially announced The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, with a release set for January 2026. This game follows Trails Through Daybreak 2, which arrived in the West in early 2025, continuing the long-running Trails subseries developed by Nihon Falcom.
Originally released in Asia in 2024, the game sees the continent of Zemuria facing a dire future, prompting humanity to reach for the stars. Key characters like Van, Rean Schwarzer, and Kevin Graham are drawn into a storyline filled with hidden truths and high-stakes exploration. Players will experience a mix of real-time and turn-based combat while mastering new gameplay systems like Shard Commands, Awakening, and Z.O.C. mechanics, and taking on challenges like the Grim Garten dungeon with a "dream party" of returning heroes.
Fans can also look forward to a Limited Edition release priced at $109.99, available exclusively through the NIS Online Store. This collector’s version includes the game, a Steelbook, Digipak soundtrack, art book, acrylic clock, and more. NIS America’s announcement follows other recent Switch 2 confirmations, including Disgaea 7 Complete, which will feature all DLC, a new episode, and enhanced gameplay options.
